Locksmith prices in Montreal, Laval and Longueuil

Nobody likes the "we'll see when we get there" answer. Here is exactly how the bill is built: a $29 flat service call to get the truck to your door, then a quoted price for the work before anyone touches the lock. You approve it or you don't — the number doesn't move once the job starts.

What the $29 service call covers

  • A licensed technician and a stocked truck to your address in Montreal, Laval or Longueuil
  • Diagnosis on site — what's actually wrong with the lock, cylinder or door
  • A firm price for the repair before any work begins

It does not cover parts or labour. Those are quoted per job, because a snapped key in a builder-grade cylinder and a Medeco rekey across five doors are not the same job.

What moves the price, job by job

JobWhat changes the number
Lockout / door opening
  • Type of lock — standard cylinder, high-security, or a deadbolt thrown from inside
  • Whether the key snapped off in the cylinder
  • Door condition: a warped frame takes longer than a clean pick
Lock change
  • How many doors, and how many cylinders per door
  • Hardware grade — builder-grade Weiser vs Medeco or Mul-T-Lock
  • Whether the existing prep on the door fits the new lock
Rekey
  • Number of cylinders keyed alike
  • Number of keys cut on site
  • Restricted keyways cost more than standard ones
Commercial hardware
  • Panic bars, door closers, master-key systems
  • Fire-rated door requirements
  • Number of openings on the same key plan
Safes
  • Opening method the safe allows
  • Combination change vs full lock replacement
  • Anchoring and relocation

Rekey or replace?

If the hardware is in good shape and you only need the old keys to stop working — new tenant, lost keyring, contractor who never gave the copy back — a rekey is the cheaper route: same lock, new pins, new keys. Replace the lock when the cylinder is worn, the finish is shot, the grade is too low for an entry door, or you're moving up to a patented key system where copies can't be cut at a hardware store.
